What Is Growth Cave?

The brainchild of digital entrepreneurs Lucas-Lee Tyson and Ozzie Blessed, Growth Cave teaches you how to make money online. Or at least how to use the web to make money.  

Along with their COO Jordan Marksberry, they've built a business and platform that caters to individuals and businesses looking to make some serious dough from digital marketing through a lead generation business model and running a digital marketing agency.

There are actually multiple products under the umbrella of Growth Cave. One of their more popular programs, Productized Profits, breaks down the process of lead gen and client acquisition into a seven-week program, divided into seven modules (the previous version was a six-week program with six modules), which is supposed to teach you the A to Z of pulling in customers and earning monthly income across various industries.

It's aimed at equipping digital entrepreneurs and solopreneurs with the know-how and skills they’ll need to create, manage, and scale effective Facebook ad campaigns for clients (and to attract clients). 

But is any of this legit?

Does it actually work for the average person, and can you really make money with it?

Great question and the short answer is yes. People make money online every day using these strategies and methods. But with the rise of the “digital lifestyle guru”, there's a common misunderstanding of how this works.  

Making money this way is a highly-paid skill. And like any highly-paid skill, it takes time and effort to develop. And it helps to learn from someone who has those skills. So let's start with the face and front-man of the Growth Cave and Productized Profits, Lucas-Lee Tyson. 

Who Is Lucas-Lee Tyson?

Lucas-Lee Tyson is a twenty-something digital marketer and multi-millionaire from Austin, Texas. He started making money as a teenager with a YouTube banner design business and later attended Babson College.

In addition to his digital products like Growth Cave, he is also known for his YouTube channel, which currently has 2.6 million views (although, with most videos now deleted, he seems to be far less active on YouTube these days). 

Lucas worked as a one-man army from his college dorm room and grew his business to over $300,000 a year. And he did that starting with only $10 and credit card debt. 

As many digital entrepreneurs (and even offline entrepreneurs do), he seized the opportunity to scale by transitioning his business model to digital marketing training and coaching other businesses and entrepreneurs about marketing and creating their own agencies.

According to a press release from NewsBTC, this pivot allowed him to make $2 million in his third year in business with a team of fewer than five people. 

Is that true? 

Probably. I know firsthand how much money this online world allows us to earn and how it enables us to scale without having to even stand up from our desks at home. So I have no reason to doubt him.

But I can't verify those numbers. 

If there's one thing Lucas knows, it's how to leverage the digital economy, and that knowledge comes through in his courses. The question is whether that knowledge is transferable to your particular niche or industry. 

To be clear, I'm not an affiliate for his products, and I'm not trying to sell you on them. All I'm saying is that he knows what he teaches, which is to grab attention and create a buzz around his products.  

And through the online sales of his courses and coaching programs, he utilizes the same skillset. 

Is Growth Cave Legit?

Ok, it's time to get real. We're talking about making money online here, and that's suspicious right off the start.

And we're not just talking about any kind of money. $10K per month kind of money or more to start. And to achieve that income level in a relatively short time.

In addition to that, there's a lot of lifestyle selling here, so it's completely normal that many would scratch their heads, wondering if Growth Cave is legit.

Or if it's just another online scam.

I'll start with Growth Cave's Better Business Bureau (BBB) accreditation…  

If you're unfamiliar with the BBB, they are a third-party consumer advocate group that rates businesses on their honesty and reliability. And according to the BBB, Growth Cave currently has an A rating and is accredited.

It's extremely rare for any digital marketing or make-money-online program to have BBB accreditation. It happens occasionally, and many companies are on file with Better Business Bureau, but very few are actually accredited.

That's certainly not where the story ends, and an A rating with the BBB doesn't complete the picture. The BBB reviews and complaints are not necessarily flattering either, but the question of whether Growth Cave is legit is different from whether Growth Cave is worth it or if it's any good.

I'll get more into those topics below. 

I will say that, as an online marketer and owner of multiple websites in various niches, I know that the methods and strategies that Growth Cave teaches work. So there is a real product here that provides real value and teaches a legit business model. 

But again, whether Growth Cave is the best place to learn these methods and strategies is a different question. 

It should also be noted that it's not a faceless program or a hollow website that takes your cash and gives you nothing.

As mentioned, you get the products you are buying, and in that respect, Growth Cave is legit. 

But this brings up another important point. Many people join make-money programs assuming they are buying results rather than the methods to get those results

And in most cases, it's not their fault because they were sold the results (the lifestyle), not a product. 

Of course, you want to know what the potential results and benefits can be, but there should also be a healthy understanding of what they might not be.

So, whether Growth Cave (or any business opportunity or money-making program) is a scam depends largely on the perception and expectations of those buying it. 

In my opinion, many of these programs use “aggressive” marketing tactics that lead to those expectations. If they flat-out promise or guarantee specific results, you should, at the very least, verify those claims and get specifics as to how those results will be achieved. Use email so you'll have a written record. 

In most cases, if you peer through the glossy finish, it's clear that no promise or guarantee was ever made (even if the subtle hints were there). 

I could go on about this topic forever. And I'm not specifically talking about Growth Cave here.

At the end of the day, whatever program you join, it's the course materials you're buying and, if it's part of the program, the coaching time and communications. It's not the results. 

As far as Growth Cave goes, it's a legit 43-person company (soon to be 50+) run by Lucas-Lee Tyson, Ozzie Blessed, and COO Jordan Marksberry.

Growth Cave Legal Issues and Concerns

This question came up, and I've seen some comments on various platforms that maybe they should be taken down or that the FTC or Consumer Protection Agency should investigate Growth Cave (in that case, it was for their $40,000 Digital Freedom Mastermind). 

However, despite the comments and complaints, I did not uncover any legal issues such as settlements, FTC warnings, shutdowns, etc., as I have with many other programs.  

How Does Growth Cave Work?

So, getting back to how Growth Cave works. As mentioned, Productized Profits is a seven-module lead generation course that teaches you how to earn online income through digital marketing.

The program emphasizes mindset, client relationships, and scaling through automation using tools like Zapier and Loom and a client acquisition software called ClientBolt.

I'll review the curriculum in a moment for both Growth Cave and Productized Profits, but in both cases, modules are centered around topics like lead generation, Facebook ad campaigns, customer management, automation, scalability, and more.

There are over 40 videos covering these topics. 

During the course, students are motivated to adopt a fresh outlook toward marketing that focuses on long-term growth and team building. 

After signing up, you get instant access to the training modules and bonuses.

Growth Cave (2023) Curriculum

Let's dive into the Growth Cave program, which differs from the Productized Products course. 

I'll go over the Productized Profits curriculum below, but this program, which is significantly more expensive, is designed to help entrepreneurs and businesses increase their online presence. 

Here's a brief breakdown of what Growth Cave teaches:

  1. Mindset – The importance of having the right mindset for success in entrepreneurship.
  2. Market Research – Understanding your target audience, their needs, preferences, and behaviors to tailor your marketing strategies effectively.
  3. Marketing Strategies – The course delves into both organic and paid marketing strategies, with a particular emphasis on Facebook advertising.
  4. Creating Your Offer – This module guides you on how to outline a course, decide what features to include, and create an appealing offer for your audience.
  5. Sales Funnels and YouTube Ads – The final module is about creating a sales funnel, setting up a YouTube ad, and strategies for sales and scaling.

The program also includes group calls, and as someone who works (alone) from home, I can say that community and personal support are crucial to success.

Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all in entrepreneurship. It's all about finding what works for you, testing, learning, and iterating. So, if you're considering Growth Cave, take that for what it's worth because this is not an inexpensive program.

In fact, it's quite expensive, as I'll get into below.

For now, let's move on to a breakdown of the Productized Profits program because that's the one that will be more accessible to most people (even though it's still on the pricey side, in my opinion).

Productized Profits Curriculum

Productized Profits curriculum gives you a buffet of seven modules that walk you through everything from the basics to creating irresistible offers, setting up a client magnet machine, mastering the art of sales, and learning the ropes of automation, systems, and scaling.

They also throw in some bonuses. 

Module 1: Fundamentals and Foundations

First up, Productized Profits curriculum starts you off by helping you set down a sturdy foundation for your digital marketing empire. This module goes all out to make sure you understand the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, including how to squash any fear, doubts, and preconceived ideas that might throw a wrench in your success.

It also dives into the common traps entrepreneurs often encounter when kicking off their ventures. You’re setting yourself up for a clear path to winning by learning what not to do.

Specifically, you'll learn about mindset.

As an entrepreneur, your mindset is your most powerful tool. You'll learn about the habits and attitudes that lead to success and those that lead to failure. This module is crucial because it sets the tone for the rest of the course and your entrepreneurial journey.

And he also discusses the “Uniform of Failure”, which includes common reasons some students fail. Some examples are…

  • Falling into the trap of the “shiny object syndrome.” Chasing after every new trend or idea can distract you from your main goals.
  • Misunderstanding that this course isn't a magic ticket to instant wealth. It requires time, effort, and patience.
  • Failure to engage in the Facebook group for real-time updates and interactive Q&A sessions can lead to missed opportunities for learning and growth.
  • Not being humble and open-minded. Letting go of your ego allows you to learn more effectively and adapt to new information or strategies.
  • Not committing fully. Jumping into the course half-heartedly won't yield the desired results.
  • Skipping lessons leads to gaps in knowledge and understanding. It's crucial to follow each step meticulously.
  • Failing to take pride in your work. Doing work you're proud of fuels motivation and encourages continuous improvement.
  • Not communicating openly with Lucas and other course members which is crucial for valuable insights and feedback.

In simpler terms, you'll learn how to identify a profitable niche and create an offer that's irresistible to your target audience.

They also lay out practical examples and models to help you soak up these concepts and put them to work effectively.

An essential part of Module 4 is Lucas's “2 Call Closure” program, which breaks down your calls into two components and gives potential clients time to mull over their decision. And you’ll learn how to build trust with clients by listening to them and addressing their concerns.

The fifth pit stop in Growth Cave’s Productized Profits course is about cranking up the automation process in your service delivery and customer relationship management. 

Here you’ll learn how to smooth out your processes and marketing campaigns with software like Zapier and Loom, which can take a lot of the grunt work off your hands by automating tasks like scheduling social media posts and firing off emails.

By putting these processes on autopilot, you’re freeing up more time to focus on client acquisition strategies (which you learned in the earlier modules of the course).

When I looked into the Growth Cave course, it was good to see that they provided a few bonuses, although, depending on when you're reading this, they may change.

Currently they include access to client acquisition software and a mastermind community for networking opportunities.

They also provide email support and two live phone calls where you can fire off any questions you might have about the course or your business in general.

Growth Cave Pricing

Growth Cave has a range of pricing options for various courses. And new courses and pricing will undoubtedly come out. 

For clarity, there are two programs we're talking about (although there are others that fall under the Growth Cave banner), and they can be easy to confuse if you're reading reviews. So to be clear… 

  • The Productized Profits program is $1,497 (which is somewhat of an introductory program to the full Growth Cave platform).
  • Growth Cave is currently $9800. 

I couldn't find this price published officially, and I'm unaware of a Growth Cave pricing page, so I screen-grabbed a couple of comments just to verify.

Having said that, you can keep your eye out for the occasional sale, and these prices can change at any time. 

For example, during Black Friday (in '22), they sold Productized Profits for $497.

Growth Cave Refunds

Growth Cave's Productized Profits does offer refunds, but it's not blanket refunds. In other words, you can't jump into the program, look around quickly, and then jump back out. 

It's an action-based money-back guarantee. Also, the refund policy shown below was published in 2022, so make sure you contact them directly and verify the details of their current refund policies. 

The (2022) published steps you must take to qualify are…

1. Watch the first six training modules of Productized Profits.
2. Attend just two live coaching calls, and let us help you one-on-one.
3. Launch Productized Lead Generation ads for just one business owner and let us help you run them for 14 days.

Growth Cave Action Based Refund Policy

Despite the published refund policy, I can relate to your hesitancy.

I've been there many times, and just today, I was just looking at an expensive program (for game development, not a make-money program) and combing through their refund policy with a fine-toothed comb. It seems legit…

… but I definitely understand.

And to be clear, I cannot guarantee Growth Cave will be responsive if you request a refund. You will likely have to follow their policy to the letter.

However, I did some digging to find evidence that refunds have been issued, and I did find at least one…

Costs And Payment Options

In the past, they have offered payment options. Again, like all payment/refund details, you should reach out and verify everything at the time of purchase as policies change. 

Previously, you could purchase Productized Profits with a one-time payment of $1,497 for lifetime access or break it down into three payments of $597 each. Depending on when you're reading this, that option may or may not still be available. 

Is Growth Cave Worth It?

I want to give you a straight yes or no answer, but it's difficult to say without knowing your likes, dislikes, talents, current skill set, financial situation, home-life balance goals, etc…

For some people, it won't be worth it. It's not that there isn't value or expertise here. That's not the issue.

It's just that some people might find that running a Digital Marketing or Social Media Marketing Agency just isn't for them. One of a dozen other online or home-based businesses, like affiliate marketing, might be more suited to their personality type, skill set, etc.

For others, they may latch onto Growth Cave immediately and love every minute of it. And this is apparent in the positive reviews and testimonials.

This is certainly a high-ticket product (especially the $40K Digital Freedom Mastermind), and it may require more consideration if you're on a tight budget. If it were me, I wouldn't go into credit card debt for it. And, of course, I can't responsibly recommend anyone else go into debt either. 

It's not that people don't go into debt when starting a business, buying a franchise, etc.

Of course, they do.

But in most cases, they start a business they're familiar with.

For example, they may have worked in a restaurant for years or an auto repair shop before branching out independently. So they know what they're getting into and are better equipped with the knowledge and experience they need to make a life-changing decision.

On the other hand, there's student debt, another topic entirely beyond the scope of this article. Many go blindly into debt for their education, but it's also inaccurate to say that someone going to med school, business school, or to become an attorney, engineer, etc., doesn't know what they're getting into.

Anyway… having said that, it's not my place to tell you what to do.

Growth Cave will be the right opportunity, teaching environment, and community for some people. This may be the online business model you're looking for, so I don't want to discourage you from pursuing it. 

What I can do is share my experience. 

I've had many clients over the years through word of mouth simply because I have a digital marketing business (and someone always knows someone who needs this service for their business). What I mean is I don't actively look for clients. 

And that's because I don't enjoy it.

My sales background is probably the biggest reason I no longer like dealing with clients and why I find them demanding. Not in an aggressive way. They just have an idea in their head, and that idea is what they want to see. 

The problem is that they don't do or know anything about digital marketing.  

You do. 

And you also understand the limitations of the technologies you're working with, what a realistic conversion rate is, etc.

So, in my experience, that conflict (usually a friendly working conflict) just results in endless back and forth and countless emails. It's just part of working with clients, which is fine.

Growth Cave Reviews and Complaints

Like all businesses, you'll find a mix of positive and negative reviews. You'll also find complaints. 

This is an unbiased review of Growth Cave, so to be fair, I'll go over both.

I know some are unhappy with Growth Cave and have shared their negative experiences. I certainly don't want to minimize their frustrations. 

For example, there have been complaints from people who feel they did not receive what they were promised. 

But to be fair, I don't have access to the text or audio communications between parties and therefore don't know what was promised or delivered.

So, even though I have thoughts and opinions on the matter, that's all they are. Thoughts and opinions. Anything I say about it would be speculation at best and, therefore, potentially misleading. 

Likewise, I can only speculate on the positive reviews…

Eileen, for example, says she closed her first two sales in her third week for a total of $5,000 in revenue (shown below)

Damien signed a six-month working agreement with his client for over $35,000 (also shown below)

I don't know Eileen or Damien and can't verify these claims. However, belonging to several online marketing groups and seeing similar posts (that are legit), these would not be unexpected.

Reviews and complaints are undoubtedly helpful when making a purchase decision. But they can also be confusing because everyone's experience is different. 

We also only get extreme opinions in most cases. Those who either love the product or those who hate it. There are far fewer in the middle.

In this case, Growth Cave reviews range from “amazing experience” and “exceptional customer service” to  “broken promises” and “scam”

And I can't count how many times I've purchased something based on good reviews or recommendations, only to be disappointed. And vice versa. Purchasing something despite some negative reviews and having a good experience. 

I'm sure you can relate. 

Again, it's not that reviews are unhelpful, but rather than helping us come to a definitive decision… they often only describe the possible range of experiences we are likely to have. And then, it's up to us to decide if the risk is worth the reward.   

What I Like About Growth Cave

  • Lucas-Lee Tyson is a skilled online marketer. He, therefore, has the knowledge and experience to back up what he teaches. 
  • The strategies and methods taught by Growth Cave are legit. 
  • They offer occasional deals and installment plans. 
  • Training is comprehensive and includes templates, access to helpful software, community interaction, etc. 

What I Don’t Like

  • Steep pricing. For those on a tight budget, it could be a risky purchase. As mentioned, the strategies and methods work, but they may come fast enough if you've got debts to pay, rent, bills due, etc.  
  • Some negative reviews and complaints are part of any business or program, but they are still concerning. 
  • Paid traffic strategies (especially when you're a beginner) can quickly burn a hole through your pocket.  
  • Aggressive marketing strategies that, in my opinion, oversell the passive income type of lifestyle but undersell the time and effort required to achieve it.

There are several alternatives to Growth Cave you might consider. Although Growth Cave is legit and provides comprehensive training, other work-at-home jobs and side hustles might also suit your current situation.

You want the lifestyle of a digital marketer and the freedom to work at home on your own schedule. But the question is whether Growth Cave works. Or, more specifically, will it work for you?

People earn significant money doing what Growth Cave teaches, but getting started requires an investment. The price of Growth Cave will be the sticking point for most people, and there's a real possibility that earning that money back will take longer than you anticipate. 

Learning from someone who knows digital marketing helps, and it can speed up the process. But your budget will take that initial hit. For some, it might be a bridge too far. 

If affordability is an issue, there are various ways to get started online.

  1. It is true! Growth Cave did not fulfill their end of the contract. Lucas Lee Tyson took $9800 from our family of 4 and did not honor his 30 day money back guarantee. Our coach, Evan Bladh quit and gave us no help. For two weeks we asked for a new coach and no one reached out to us. We asked for our money back and they said their contract was to keep our money. Lucas did refund some of the services we bought and said our investment would be refunded in full. Yet, we then receive a message from Jordan Marksberry and he referred us to their lawyer who we will be contact.
    Check the better business bureau. DO NOT GIVE GROWTH CAVE YOUR MONEY! They have hurt our family and our financial stability. Do no trust ANY OF THEM!

  2. Do you know how to cancel the membership once you have purchased it? I can’t seem to find any way to reach him. I didn’t realize I was signing up for the entire program. I thought I made a one time purchase, that I would like to now have a refund for, but my account was just charged again! I want to cancel everything I have purchased from him, but I don’t know how to. Are you able to help?

  3. Can you please help. I signed up for Growth Cave yesterday and I didn’t even sign the contract correctly. Right after I signed I had immediate second thoughts and I asked for a refund and they said no too bad.
    WTH I didn’t even meet with anyone. I want out. I paid $10,388.00

    • Hi Jennifer, I’m so sorry to hear about your situation. I know that sick feeling all to well, but I know that’s not helpful. I wish I could provide more assistance but I’m not affiliated with Growth Cave in any way. You could try filing a complaint at the Better Business Bureau explaining your situation (although reading recent complaints, it doesn’t seem like they respond favorably). You could also consult with a lawyer to see what your options are, but that’s far beyond my level of expertise. I’m really sorry, I wish I could more helpful.

      • Lucas Lee Tyson did not honor his 30 day money back guarantee and took $9800 from our family of 4. Our coach quit the first week and we did not get a new one. No one contacted us and after many, many emails, we were not contacted. We asked for our money back and Growth Cave will not return the funds for the $9800 and United Credit is also giving us the run around. We are devastated and enraged. Please DO NOT listen to anything Lucas Lee Tyson or his sales team says. You will not talk to a real person, they do not respond to emails and then when unsatisfied with their service in 30 days, they take your money.
