What Is Inbound Closer?
Inbound Closer is an online sales training program created by Taylor Welch and promoted by his brother Payton. It teaches you how to make high-dollar commissions by closing sales for big-ticket items such as digital courses, event seminars, workshops, and access to mastermind groups, among others.
The program comes with webinar recordings, pdf documents, mp3's, and access to a private Facebook group where students share tips on how to get the most from the system.
I've seen Inbound Closer described as an online marketing course, but that's NOT what Inbound Closer is.
Let me explain…
A typical online marketing course teaches you to set up and promote a “sales funnel,” also known as a “marketing funnel.”
You've probably experienced this before.
Funnels like this often begin with an ad (on YouTube, Facebook, etc.) that grabs your attention.
That ad either consists of a sales video (like the sales video for Inbound Closer), or it leads you to what's called a landing page. The landing page may also have a video followed by an offer and an email sign-up form.
And, of course, when you share your email address, you're going to receive emails promoting products and services.
To be clear, there's nothing wrong with online marketing and sales funnels.
I've bought many great courses and programs and joined some fantastic communities I discovered through a “funnel.”
But sales funnels can also be scams.
As an inbound closer, you are part of this marketing process. Still, you are not creating and promoting a sales funnel (as most online marketing courses teach).
That's not what the Inbound Closer Program is about.
Instead, you are contacting leads generated by someone else's funnel and closing the deal.
These deals involve products that cost several thousand dollars or more. Because they're so expensive, an “inbound closer” is needed. An actual salesperson on the phone who can close the sale.
Inbound Closer teaches you how to be that person.
Is Inbound Closer a Scam?
If you're a skeptic like I am, you're probably wondering if Inbound Closer is a scam. That may be why you're reading this review. Because something about the program doesn't seem right.
There are a couple of things going on here.
The program itself is not a scam. I will cover the course curriculum below, which is substantial, and I'll provide a quick summary of the modules.
However, you're not wrong for being skeptical, and here's why…
If you watched the introduction video, you might feel that you were promised a six-figure income by Inbound Closer within 21 days. And all for just a small one-time fee of $97.
In my opinion, that's an unlikely outcome.
While you do get some “how-to” knowledge and training for your $97, you don't get access to clients hiring inbound closers. Instead, you'll have to find those clients yourself.
And twenty-one days is a pretty short window to go from zero to becoming a successful inbound closer who can land their own clients. It's not impossible, but statistically speaking, few will achieve that level of success.
If I keep my “skeptic's hat” on, there are some other red flags, which I'm sure you noticed as well.
Whether they suggest Inbound Closer is a scam or not, I'll leave it up to you. What I would say though, is that the marketing behind Inbound Closer isn't as genuine as it could be, in my opinion.
Red Flag #1
Payton Welch claims during the sales video that you can “earn your first commission in as little as one week.”
While “earning” that soon is technically possible, getting paid that soon is something different. What every business owner and freelancer knows is that clients rarely, if ever, pay that soon.
I've been earning commissions online for quite a few years now, and it's highly uncommon to get paid immediately. Instead, clients (or companies) typically hold onto your commissions for 30 – 90 days.
They do this because they know the buyer (of the product or service that generated your commissions) will, in some cases, ask for a refund.
The last thing your client wants is to refund 100% of the sale out of their own pocket and then chase you down to recover the commission they paid to you.
So, if everything goes right, you may “earn” your first commission relatively soon, but that doesn't mean you'll get paid right away.
In other words, if you're joining Inbound Closer because your rent is due next week, you'll probably be telling your landlord to wait.
Red Flag #2
Similar to the last red flag, another claim is that you're “destined to earn a job replacing income almost overnight.”
The only “overnight” job replacing income I know of is another job.
Learning how to become a successful inbound closer takes time. There's a mountain of training material to get through (as I'll discuss below).
You must develop the skills of a successful salesperson, and those don't come overnight for most people. You must also build your roster of clients.
Can you one day generate a job replacing income? Eventually… yes.
Can you do it overnight (or almost overnight)? It's not likely unless you're already a skilled closer with sales experience.
Red Flag #3
Payton is shown supposedly making money on the beach, flying in a private jet, and sitting courtside at major sporting events.
Maybe I'm just getting old, and Inbound Closer's target audience is young 20-somethings who respond to that sort of thing.
To me, it just has that fake guru feel to it, like all the other get-rich-quick BS out there.
There is a legitimate course behind all of the flash and glitter, but marketing it this way devalues it, in my opinion. Other legit courses like Ministry of Freedom and BJK University do this as well.
Having said that, they keep running the same ads, which would suggest their ad campaign works.
Who Are Payton and Taylor Welch?
According to Payton, he was down and out working for a clothing store called Von Maren. Then, desperate, he reached out to his brother Taylor who was already a high-ticket closer and apparently the first millionaire in the family.
At this point, Taylor had already created Inbound Closer. And, it was Taylor who knew the high-dollar entrepreneurs who were looking for people to close sales.
In fact, Taylor himself is a high-dollar entrepreneur who sells big-ticket courses. Payton also claims he sells one-hour consultations for $3000.
Is any of it true?
Well, I've never heard of the clothing store Von Maren, nor could I find any evidence that it exists.
They may be referring to Von Maur, but I've watched the video a few times, and I'm sure he says Von Maren (which is also how it's written on the screen).
Look, I don't know if Payton's story of folding clothes for a 40 cent raise and lying awake at night in bed is true. I suspect it's not. But what I do know is that it's true for someone.
It might be true for you.
Inbound closing is a real gig, and it's one way to escape your situation, whatever that situation may be. But a career in sales is not for everyone.
I spent over 15 years in sales (and management), racking up over 30,000 in-person sales calls (that's not an exaggeration). So I can tell you if you don't enjoy it, it's a grind like any other.
Some will go through the Inbound Closer program and thrive (despite what I consider to be questionable marketing).
And there will be some who don't thrive because they just don't like it.
Payton, for example, says he wasn't good at talking to people, but clearly, he's charismatic and has no problem talking to the camera or to people.
That's a unique combination of skills and characteristics that are well-suited to sales.
He is also a skilled marketer, and if inbound closing is your thing, you can learn a lot from him and his brother Taylor.
Also, Inbound Closer isn't their only program.
Taylor and another online marketer named Chris Evans co-founded a similar program called Traffic and Funnels.
Payton is involved with The Sales Mentor as a lead sales mentor. In addition, he oversees multiple sales teams and, according to various sources, is also involved in real estate.
Whether it all started at a clothing store, as he outlines in the Inbound Closer video, I have my doubts. But to be fair, I'm sure he can provide you with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
So back to the question, is Inbound Closer a scam?
What I'll say is this…
The marketing campaign for Inbound Closer is over the top, and it's far too “get-rich-quick” for me. I also think the promises are unrealistic, and if I'm being honest, the entire campaign is just cringy, in my opinion.
However, as far as Inbound Closer being a course that provides value, it's legit.
How Does Inbound Closer Work?
Before I explain how Inbound Closer works, let's talk about what an inbound closer is expected to do.
An inbound closer takes advantage of inbound marketing.
Inbound marketing is a strategy marketers use to generate leads from various sources such as:
- blogs
- videos
- podcasts
- infographics
- webinars
- ebooks
- white papers
- articles
- social media posts
- advertisements
It's a process that involves creating valuable content, which then gets distributed via channels like social networks or email campaigns. The goal is to engage new audiences, move them along in the buyer's journey, and ultimately convert them into paying buyers.
Inbound closers are one component of that journey.
To be clear, it's not the typical “laptop lifestyle.” Instead, inbound closers work on the phone and talk to real people.
If you consider yourself to be an introvert or you're looking for something you can do entirely online and not have to deal with people, inbound closing might not be your thing.
As I mentioned above, I did sales calls for more than 15 years, and I was miserable through most of them because it wasn't my thing either.
I still remember the exact moment when I “hit my wall.” The next day I switched careers (I became an electrician).
Inbound closing is a unique gig, and in most cases, people either love it or hate it. There's not much middle ground.
What Exactly Is “Inbound Closing”?
Having read what seems like hundreds of comments about Inbound Closer, two questions kept popping up… how does it work, and what exactly is inbound closing?
An inbound closer is a salesperson who works with qualified leads, which is to say, the leads are “inbound.”
It's not like a typical telemarketing job where you make “outbound” calls to sell stuff to people who don't want it.
When receiving inbound calls (or calling pre-qualified leads), it's usually someone already interested in what you're selling. So in that respect, inbound closing is much easier than its telemarketing counterpart.
However, “easier” doesn't mean “easy.”
Here's the thing…
Instead of finding your own customers or leads, you MUST instead find your own clients. Clients are the entrepreneurs and business owners who are selling high-ticket products, and they need inbound closers to make sales.
Clients provide leads.
Now, here's why it's not easy…
Imagine you are the client. You have a product you sell for several thousand dollars. You also spend thousands of dollars every month running advertising campaigns on YouTube to generate leads.
In other words, those leads don't come easy, and they don't come cheap.
Would you hand them over to an inbound closer with no track record?
Would you hand them over to an inbound closer with a poor track record?
Remember, you've spent thousands of dollars on these leads. If you hire the wrong closer, they'll burn through them with no sales to show for it, which means thousands of dollars down the drain for you (as a client).
This is why inbound closing is hard, and at times, stressful.
Maintaining a high close ratio is a lot of pressure.
If you don't close, you won't have clients. If you don't have clients, you don't have leads. If you don't have leads, you can't make sales, and you can't earn commissions.
I'm not saying inbound closing can't be lucrative. It can be. But it's not as easy as it might sound.
Selling Scams
There's another problem.
The most common products sold by companies who hire inbound closers are things like expensive courses, webinars, in-person seminars, “business” retreats, and that sort of thing.
Many are expensive training programs like Growth Cave that teach things like starting a digital marketing agency, affiliate marketing, personal development, real estate investment, stock trading, how to create and sell online courses, etc.
And a significant percentage of them are scams.
There's a reason they need high-ticket closers. It's because their products don't sell themselves.
Quite often, but not always, you'll have a client who is selling a $20,000 or $30,000 program to someone who shouldn't be buying it, which puts you in a tricky situation.
As an inbound closer who needs to close deals, you can find yourself pushing for sales you don't necessarily believe in.
That's not always the case, and I don't mean to paint a negative picture of inbound closing. It can be a rewarding career, but you should be aware that there are drawbacks as well.
To summarize:
- Inbound closers talk to inbound leads.
- Leads are provided to you by clients.
- Clients sell high-ticket products and services, usually by way of a sales or marketing funnel.
- You earn a commission when you close a sale (commissions typically range between 10 and 40 percent of the sale price)
- Leads are expensive to generate, which means your clients expect you to close a high percentage of them.
Now that you have a better understanding of what inbound closing is and what an inbound closer does, let's look at the Inbound Closer products.

Inbound Closer Certification Program – Phase Two ($997)
As I mentioned earlier, the program you first sign up for is only Phase One. Of course, you can expect a big upsell, which is what you'll get when you first join.
Immediately after joining, you'll be met with a video from Taylor talking about one of the biggest challenges you'll have: finding clients.
In the upsell video, he asks you a question,
“Instead of going out to find your very first client, how would you like for me to bring 312 pre-qualified business owners directly to you?”
These are apparently a group of pre-vetted high earning business owners who might be willing to hire you.
Of course, you'd like it because finding clients is half the job, and if you can't get over that hurdle, you can't implement the system.
That's the incentive he uses to promote Phase Two of the Inbound Closer System, the Inbound Closer Certification Program, which costs $997.
Below I outline each module and provide a brief summary of each…

1. You're not good enough
2. There are no buyers out there for you
3. Your product or service isn't worth it
Payton says if these thoughts keep running through your head, you're never going to be able to close more business because you'll always feel like you don't deserve success. But he also explains why those things aren't true.

There is some discussion about dealing with stress the importance of having a positive attitude towards life.

This section discusses what matters when it comes to selling higher-priced products or services. Some concepts that are touched on include:
- What your prospect wants out of their next purchase decision?
- Why prospects are hesitant to make buying decisions right now?
- How to identify whether a deal is worth pursuing or not.
It also teaches you how to use the power of psychology to close more deals. It covers concepts such as human behavior, leveraging emotions such as empathy to influence others, and how to create trust through honesty and transparency.
Module 4 – Closing with Confidence

Module Summary
Closing with confidence discusses how to become a better closer, in part by learning from other sales professionals who have been doing it for years.
You'll learn to be confident, which is essential because people judge you based on first impressions. If they don't think you can sell them something, then why would they buy?
An aggressive attitude is important when selling, but there is a difference between confidence and aggression. This is also discussed in this module.

He shows you some techniques used by top closers, such as dealing with objections during your conversation, the importance of identifying an objection before it's too late, and why you should always ask questions instead of giving answers.
Module 6 – Becoming A Professional Inbound Closer
Curriculum

You will also receive your certification and be invited to join the community, The Closers and Owners Network, where you can network with others learning and implementing their new skills and techniques.
Inbound Closer Cost
The initial program cost is $97. That's for the Inbound Closer Accelerator you were advertised when you first discovered the program, either from an ad or an email most likely.
Upsells
The first big upsell is when you get inside the Accelerator program and learn about Phase Two, the certification program, which costs $997.
You'll likely be offered additional upsells as well. However, because of the strategies used when upselling, it's hard to say what they will be when you're reading this or what they will cost.
Most online marketers are constantly “testing” upsells to see which ones sell the best and at what price point.
You might get “coaches” pushing you towards next-level programs and masterminds that cost several thousand dollars, or you'll get one-time offers (knowns as OTO's) for simple guides or case studies that cost less than $100.
It just depends on what's working for them at the time and what upsells are available.
I'm not picking on Inbound Closer here; this is true for most online marketing programs or any online program for that matter. Whether it's nutrition and fitness, photography, productivity, or something else.
Refunds
Inbound closer offers an unconditional money-back lifetime guarantee, no questions asked. However, some comments on Reddit suggest there may be times that it takes a couple of emails to get a response.
To request a refund, email support@inboundcloser.com or call 615-953-9536.
Who Is Inbound Closer For?
Inbound closer is for someone who likes sales. If you've ever sold anything before, such as insurance, used cars, or direct sales products like Cutco Knives, and had fun doing it, Inbound Closer might be for you.
It's clearly marketed to younger people, but it's accessible to anyone, including…
- Retirees
- Stay at home parents
- Employees looking for a side hustle
- College students
- Unemployed, and so on…
However, that doesn't mean I recommend it to everyone.
First, it's not just a $97 course. To be successful at inbound closing, most people will need to upgrade to the $997 certification program, which means it's not for those who are struggling financially.
Second, while it's possible to earn money relatively soon as an inbound closer, you can't count on it. Those people are the exception, not the rule. So it's not for the person who's joining because they have bills coming due and debt that needs to get paid back fast.
If you hate rejection, generally avoid confrontation, and don't like being under pressure… inbound closing will be a challenge to sustain. It's not impossible. I did it for 15+ years, remember. But as I said earlier, I was miserable for most of those years.
Especially when I was under pressure to get new business.
With that said, only can decide if it's for you.
Maybe you don't know if you'll like sales until you try.
Maybe you'd like to learn what sales is all about, and the experience you'll gain, whether you stick with it or not, is also valuable.
Inbound Closer Reviews and Complaints
Most of the complaints I found had to do with transparency or a lack of transparency. And I can't disagree.
It seems people are unhappy when they join for $97 to find out there's another phase that costs $997.
That's not to say what you get for $97 isn't valuable, but it feels like a bait-and-switch for some. Especially when it's implied you can make a full-time income with just a phone and 6-page pdf.
The 6-page pdf is a resource with a script you can use during calls, but it's not the “only” thing you need. There's an entire course here (two courses actually) and sales skills you'll need to acquire.
The many reviews in forums and blogs range from positive (maybe excessively positive) to Inbound Closing being a flat-out scam. So, on the one hand, you potentially have many fake reviews saying it's the greatest thing ever. On the other, some cynics just call everything a scam and make false assumptions.
As I've mentioned, I don't disagree with all of those complaints. There is a lack of transparency, I agree. I wish I could say differently, but I haven't been able to find any indication of the more expensive certification program prior to purchasing the less expensive version.
Maybe this will change, but I can't argue with those who are frustrated by it for now.
Another legitimate complaint is it's implied anyone can do it, but in my opinion, having been in sales and witnessed many people come and go, it's simply not for everyone.
What I Like About Inbound Closer
- For the right person, the program will teach you how to make high-dollar commissions by closing sales for big-ticket items.
- It's taught using various media, including webinars, pdf documents, mp3's, and access to a private Facebook group.
- The skills you'll learn are not just for inbound closing but also valuable for life and the many careers you might find yourself in. Payton isn't lying when he says it's a high-demand skill.
- It's not a typical online marketing program that requires thousands of dollars in paid traffic and advertising.

What I Don't Like
- Inbound closing is not easy. Finding clients is a challenge, and closing deals can often mean pushing people to buy products they shouldn't buy.
- Inbound closing is highly competitive, with tremendous pressure to maintain a high closing rate. I also didn't see any mention of “no-shows,” which are also common and can hurt your leads-to-close ratio significantly.
- In my opinion, the promises made are unrealistic, and there could be more transparency regarding phase two of the program and the costs associated with it.
- It has that fake-guru feel.
- Many of the big-ticket programs that clients are selling are scams, and deciding whether or not to work them may be an ethical struggle.
- Inbound closing, although lucrative, does not provide you with passive income. You are still trading hours for dollars (or phone calls for dollars).
Where Do You Go From Here?
You want to make the big dollar commissions promised by Inbound Closer, and I get it. I'd like to earn commissions like that too.
But there's a reason everyone isn't doing it. And it's not because most people don't know about it.
It's because most people are not cut for it. For those that are though, there's a lot of competition for clients and leads (as you might imagine when the commissions are $1000+).
I can't say I recommend Inbound Closer, but not because there isn't value. There is value.
It's because the unique skills and character required to be a successful closer and the competitive nature and pressure to close sales are drawbacks not everyone can overcome.
Having said that, there is a money-back guarantee. So if you think it's for you, it might be worth a try.
I hope my Inbound Closer review has been helpful. If you have any comments, questions, or experience with Inbound Closer, please share in the comments section below.
BEWARE!! The Inbound Closer is a HUGE SCAM!!! I paid for the course and once I was in the group some creepy guy from the inbound closer messaged me and tried to sell me on a $6000 package. He paused for like 10 minutes during the call out of nowhere and It got really awkward for him when I didn’t respond.. so when he started talking again I let him know I wasn’t interested because, after all , THEY AREN’T SELLING ANYTHING! After that I wasn’t allowed back into the group even though I had been working individually with people among the community, long story short I think they were quite “butt-hurt”. They are getting over on people by selling them Information about the very commonly known “closer” position which is no-secret at all. You can join any number of sales companies and become promoted to a closer or you can simply join a sales company on commission or even with a based salary as a Closer and you don’t need the program at all because you’ll get all the training you need with the company FOR FREE and yes, they will even pay you to learn.
Which is what they don’t tell people.
They get over on the younger demographic because they lack the elementary understanding of very basic business structures.
HUGE SCAM GUYS.
